Based in San Francisco, Rowbotham is a certified public accounting firm that provides a full range of domestic and international tax and audit compliance services, as well as advisory services. Its professionals include accountants, attorneys and consultants. The firm has deep industry experience in information technology, software, bio technology, real estate, distribution, hotel and leisure services, media, financial services and entertainment. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Allan D. Koltin, CEO of Koltin Consulting Group, who (along with Chris Frederiksen) advised both firms on the combination  commented:

“Crowe is making a major commitment to expanding its California presence and was fortunate to find one of the top tax boutiques in the country in Rowbotham. Rowbotham was approached by approximately a half dozen national and mega regional firms and in the end selected Crowe for it’s great culture, leadership, innovation, and global network. Brian Rowbotham is recognized as one of the top tax advisors internationally and he and his team will be a great fit for Crowe. Crowe continues to be one of the most admired firms in the country and I expect to see other top local and regional firms aligning with Crowe in the future.”

Established in 1991, Rowbotham has four partners and 20 professionals who will join Crowe. The firm’s clients include startup companies, as well as domestic and international investment funds. Private clients include global families, executives and entrepreneurs.

“Rowbotham’s focus on international markets is a great fit for our continued expansion as a global firm,” said Crowe CEO Jim Powers. “Crowe’s brand promise is to help our clients and our people make smart decisions to create lasting value. With the global market continuing to grow, this is definitely a smart decision that we believe will build lasting value for the future.”

Brian Rowbotham, managing partner and founder of Rowbotham added, “Our values line up well with Crowe’s, as do our business practices. We’re looking forward to joining Crowe, as it will provide numerous opportunities for our clients and our people.”
